This week for our provocations we have been tasting a variety of foods. We have tasted some fresh vegetables, fruit and herbs from our school garden. Lots of children across Kakano 1-3 loved rhubarb. Some found it crunchy, others found it sour but some found it delicious. Today we tried some monkey nuts. These were particularly interesting as the children have to split the shell first, this was a little challenging for some students. One of our children had not tried raw carrots before so we tried them with a little pesto. Wasabi peas was another delight we tried. You would think the children would be put off by their colour. Instead it was their fiery taste that they couldn’t handle.

So I’m sure you are thinking why are they trying different foods? One reason is that many of our children have not experienced a variety of foods. One reason is that they think they don’t like certain foods. We have had a wonderful time trialling new foods and will continue with this next week too. What an awesome bunch you’re kids are!
