Term 1 Week 5

 Week 5

Covid Level 2 restrictions

The level 2 restrictions are again in place. Here are the main things

you need to know:

  • School gates will not open until 8:30am. Please do not drop

  • your children off before this.

  • Parents are encouraged to drop their children off at the gates.

  • If you do enter the grounds, please sign in with the covid tracer app. Please do not enter the classrooms.

  • All Kakano children and their siblings will finish school at 2:45pm. We will take the children to the gate you usually pick

  • them up from unless you advise us otherwise.

GALA

Due to the level 2 restrictions that are now in place, the GALA has

been postponed. At this stage we will not be collecting in goods this

week until we know when the new GALA date is. We will keep you updated as information comes our way.

Library

Well done to those children who remembered to bring their books

back to school so they could get new ones. The library has lots of amazing books to read and it’s great to see so many being issued

each week. Library days are as follows: Kakano 1 = Wednesday,

Kakano 2 = Tuesday and Kakano 3 = Thursday.

Hats

Well done to those children who are remembering their hats

EVERY day! You’re amazing. Hats are a compulsory part of

our school uniform in terms 1 and 4. If your child has lost their

hat, please check in the lost property box outside room 6. New hats

can be purchased at the uniform shop or online through the school

app. NO HAT = NO PLAY.

Water bottles

Remember to keep bringing your water bottles to school each day,

filled with water. Drinking water is essential for us to play, learn and grow each day. The more water we drink, the better we feel.

Lunchtime Sports

This week for Lunchtime Sports Mrs D got to work with any Year 2 children who wanted to take part. We continued with our cooperation games from Golden Time. Also we made it a bit more competitive with the boys versing the girls. We put in 1, then 2, then 3 hoops in the unbreakable circle which got very tricky.

We also played the under, over game and again used a number of balls to keep the children on their toes and busy. The children were outstanding and had such great team work and spirit. It was a lovely session- well done to those who took part.

Cricket skills with Mr Fisher

This week we had Dan Fisher who came to do Cricket skills with us.

He shared our 4 rules first:

Respect

safe

learning

Have fun

We learnt lots of new skills. We learnt throwing and catching. We also learnt how to throw underarm and over arm.

The students learnt to throw a ball up and have their hands together ready to catch the ball.

We played a few games such as:  snowball tag and clean house- We split the kids into kids who throw toys and kids will collect all the balls.

Next we played ocean rescue- the island has lots of treasures. Taylah mans the pirate ship and she crashes. We end up on the ocean. We try and rescue everyone from the ocean by throwing and catching the ball.

It was a great session with Mr Fisher and everyone had lots of fun.
